As a Senior Environmental Scientist, Engineer, Geologist, or Technologist, you will join our Assessment, Remediation, Reclamation and Monitoring (ARRM) team. The successful applicant will be office-based and be involved in a broad range of projects with responsibilities as follows:

  • Actively participate and drive Montrose’s strong safety culture

  • Act as a leader in the workplace using Montrose Standard Operating Safety and Technical Procedures

  • Overall accountability on a portfolio of moderately complex projects for legacy upstream oil and gas facilities from decommissioning to regulatory closure including Phase 1 and Phase 2 Environmental Site Assessments (ESA), Risk Management Plans (RMP), Remedial Action Plans (RAP), Remediation (both in-situ and ex-situ), Reclamation, Post-reclamation Monitoring, and Regulatory Closure Applications

  • Oversee internal project teams across disciplines to facilitate delivery of high-quality products to meet our client’s requirements under their environmental program management framework.

  • Lead communication with the client’s program management team and project related stakeholders

  • Provide support to project managers on subcontractor management

  • Provide senior review and approval of all technical deliverables and scopes of work

  • Prepare and/or review technical correspondence, proposals, work plans, cost estimates, and reports, with a primary focus on regulatory submissions (Record of Site Conditions, Comprehensive Site Reviews, Conceptual Site Models, Phase 1 ESA, Phase 2 ESA, RMP/RAP, Detailed Site Assessments, Remedial Summary Reports, and Remediation or Reclamation Certificate Applications)

  • Work within a well-organized, and innovative culture with support systems that empower our professionals to focus on providing high quality solutions to our clients

  • Transfer knowledge, share experiences, and support the training and mentorship of colleagues

  • Be a senior member of our technical practice community that supports team and personal innovation, and growth and success at all levels

What Are We Looking For:

  • Advanced degree in environmental science, geology, engineering, or a related field preferred

  • A minimum of fifteen (15) years previous experience in environmental consulting experience with a minimum of ten (10) years of direct project management experience directing legacy oil and gas projects

  • Experience and assertiveness in driving scope, schedule and budget for a portfolio of moderately complex projects in the oil and gas industry

  • Demonstrated experience with preparing technical reports (ESAs, RMPs, RAPs, etc.), work plans, and cost estimates

  • Experience overseeing moderately complex projects, including review of reports and technical components such as conceptual site models, drilling plans, cross-sections, and sampling program selection

  • Strong data evaluation skills and ability to make decisions based on findings

  • Self-motivated, possess strong communication skills (verbal and written), and strong leadership skills

  • Willingness to provide technical direction and active mentorship to junior and intermediate professionals and project managers

  • Eligibility for registration in or a member in good standing of a professional organization (e.g. AIA, ASET, APEGA)

  • Experience with various in-situ, ex-situ or thermal remediation technologies is an asset

  • Experience with the Alberta Energy Regulator’s OneStop tool and working knowledge of provincial regulatory frameworks in Western Canada is also an asset

  • A valid and clean class 5 driver’s license with no restrictions

This is a permanent position with an hourly rate range of $135,000 - $175,000, starting pay is dependent on multiple factors, such as skills, experience and work location.
