As a Senior Municipal Engineer, you will join our Guelph or Mississauga/Oakville, Ontario office as part of our Eastern Surface Water-Infrastructure team. The successful applicant will be involved in a broad range of water resources focused projects with responsibilities as follows:

  • Provide project management and engineering support for surface water projects and designs, for both private and public clients. Projects may include hydraulic structures (e.g. outfalls, stormwater management facilities, weirs), bank protection, LID, master drainage plans, asset management, flood assessment and mitigation.
  • Complete asset management studies and inventories for municipal clients
  • Provide guidance and senior support to inspection on construction projects and construction administration services for a variety of infrastructure projects
  • Manage a variety of projects for a diverse group of clients, including: budget/cost control; schedule tracking; and client management
  • Review and supervise materials and quantity calculations and prepare tender documents
  • Review and authorize design drawings, including Issued For Tender/Construction drawing sets
  • Collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team on river process-related projects including subwatershed studies and environmental assessments
  • Direct and support field data collection exercises as well as data synthesis/analysis
  • Provide technical support and mentoring to junior and intermediate team members
  • Work with regulatory agencies and clients to address project-specific challenges
  • Prepare/review/supervise technical reports, specifications, and work plans
  • Support business development initiatives including drafting proposals
  • Build strong client relationships and liaise with stakeholders
  • Occasional travel within Ontario and to other Montrose locations to support projects or business development initiatives
  • Actively participate in Montrose strong Health and Safety culture

What We Are Looking For

  • Minimum 15 years of experience in municipal infrastructure or water resource engineering, specifically related to the design, construction, and project management of water resources projects
  • Professional Engineer designation with PEO is required
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil/Water Resources/Environmental Engineering, or related field.
  • Experience with stormwater management, municipal infrastructure, civil engineering and land development design is a requirement
  • Experience in writing technical reports and proposals, and giving presentations to multi-stakeholder groups
  • Ability to effectively manage projects of various sizes and complexity simultaneously
  • Experience with asset management, climate risk assessments and Environmental Assessments is an asset
  • Knowledge of current regulations, legislation and permitting
  • Experience with design and drafting software such AutoCAD would be an asset
  • Self-motivated individual, possessing strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Strong ability to convey complex concepts in a clear and concise manner, both verbally and written
  • A valid Class G driver’s license with no restrictions and a clean driving record.

This is a permanent position with a $135,000-$170,000, starting pay is dependent on multiple factors, such as skills, experience and work location.
