Your Opportunity

One Temporary (Up to 6 months) Full Time Position.

Are you passionate about playing a crucial role in ensuring the safe and efficient operation of advanced power plant equipment? Do you thrive in a positive team environment and prioritize high safety standards? If so, this may be the perfect role for you!

You will contribute to our team by:

  • Ensuring the safe operation of all plant equipment throughout all various operational situations. This equipment includes, but is not limited to, Gas Turbine, Steam Turbine, Generators, Heat Recovery Steam Generators, Emissions Monitoring system, Electrical systems, Compressors, motors, heaters, pumps, and all other balance of plant auxiliary equipment utilizing Turbine Control and Distributed Controls Systems.
  • Monitoring equipment parameters such as temperature, pressure, levels, vibration, operating hours, and water chemistry, as well as reviewing Operator rounds, to verify operating conditions and trend operation.
  • Ensuring water chemistry is within proper control ranges and adjusting as needed by controlling chemical feed and/or blowdown rates.
  • Performing general housekeeping and continuous improvement of the appearance of the facility as required.
  • Issuing permits, including but not limited to Lockout/Tagout, Confined Space, and Hot Work as required to authorize work.
  • Utilizing the Computerized Maintenance Management System (Maximo) to enter service requests.
  • Communicating plant conditions, particularly when unusual or abnormal, to the Operations Manager and Lead Control Room Operator.
  • Operating heavy equipment such as a man-lift and forklift as required.
  • Strictly adhering to all safety and environmental rules and regulations to protect employees, contractors, community, and the environment.
  • Assisting with performing Root Cause Analysis of failures as required.

What you will bring to the role:

Education:

  • 2nd class Power Engineering Certification

Experience and Skills:

  • Experience as an Operator in a power plant is desired.
  • Experience as a Control Room Operator for Combined Cycle Plants is highly desirable.
  • Experience in water chemistry control, analysis of water conditions, water treatment facility operations, and chemical handling requirements is preferred.
  • Theoretical and practical knowledge of combustion/steam turbine operations closed system steam generation, industrial safety, hazardous waste management and inspection/recording of plant parameters is highly desirable.
  • Experience with piping and instrument schematics and process control is desirable.
  • Experience with GE units is desirable.
  • Extensive working knowledge of the power plant industry is desirable.

Technical Skills:

  • Solid ability to solve equipment, systems, and safety issues.
  • Gas Power Plant Operation and Maintenance experience.
  • Able to problem solve and troubleshoot at an expert level concerning operating issues at Gas Power Plant.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively with co-workers and help foster a positive team environment.

Working Conditions:

  • Heavy industrial facility designated as a safety-sensitive location.
  • Physical mobility, including lifting and climbing, and ability to use PPE required.
  • Rotating Shift Work required.
  • Working Outside.

Wage Range: $64.55

Hours of Work: 36 hours a week

This position will remain open until a suitable candidate is found.

As this is a safety sensitive position, clearance of a pre-employment drug & alcohol test is required, subject to applicable law.

Clearance of a pre-employment medical will also be required.
