Your Opportunity

One Permanent Full Time Position.

Capital Power is currently seeking an innovative and results-driven individual to join our Financial Planning and Analysis team.

The Financial Planning and Analysis team has overall accountability of Capital Power’s Consolidated Budget, Forecasts and Long-Term Plan critical to managing the financial performance of the Company.

Reporting to the Head of Financial Planning and Analysis, the Specialist supports the budgeting and forecasting processes, as well as the upkeep and management of financial forecasting systems.

This role involves working closely with the Financial Planning and Analysis team and collaborating with various cross-functional teams to support accurate, efficient, and timely consolidated results for quarterly forecasts, the annual budget, and the Long-Term Plan.

You will contribute to our team by

  • Delivering budget and forecast reports by coordinating, consolidating, and evaluating cost centers. Supports users by validating data input, executing data transfers, and reconciling results across systems and reports.
  • Participating in moderately complex budget and forecast projects, handling tasks within their area of responsibility. Typical projects include implementing new budgeting processes/procedures and developing new Hyperion and Oracle interfaces.
  • Acting as a technical specialist, continuously developing and updating technical skills and job knowledge through educational opportunities.
  • Providing input based on monthly financial budget analyses/reports, analyzing variances.
  • Contributing to Capital Power’s budget process and supports strategic decisions.
  • Recommending improvements for Hyperion Planning and EPM Strategic Modelling systems, and suggests maintenance and optimization for HP, Oracle, and BI.
  • Providing input into delivering financial performance and analysis of moderately complex issues required to execute the key objectives identified in the Corporate Forecast.
  • Promoting a culture of continuous improvement by incorporating change initiatives into daily work.
  • Maintaining system controls, defines processes, and ensures good process documentation and strong controls, protecting the organization’s value by keeping information confidential.
  • Maintaining strong collaborative relationships within Capital Power Finance and cross-functional groups where interaction with budgeting and forecasting is required.
  • Demonstrating a positive work attitude and supports peers and team members.

What you will bring to the role

Education

  • Post-Secondary Degree in Business or equivalent.
  • Professional Accounting Designation would be considered an asset.

Experience:

  • 2-5 years of related experience and education.

Technical Skills:

  • Advanced competencies with Microsoft Excel.
  • Experience with Hyperion Planning, EPM Planning or other comparable financial planning systems is considered an asset.

Additional Details:

Clearance of Credit check is required for this position.
