Your Opportunity

One Permanent Full Time Position.

Capital Power is currently seeking a dynamic professional to lead the development and implementation of corporate strategy, cultivate relationships with stakeholders and investors, conduct thorough market research, and provide strategic insights to advance organizational goals.

As the Strategy & Investor Relations Specialist, you will be instrumental in shaping and communicating corporate strategy while overseeing investor relations.

You will contribute to our team by:

  • Supporting the development of multi-faceted corporate and business-level strategy initiatives.
  • Collaborating with various internal stakeholders to extract key insights and craft effective messaging across the organization
  • Conducting financial modeling and data analysis to prepare well-structured, actionable insights for the executive team and board of directors
  • Monitoring market and industry trends, interpreting complex financial and industry data to assess their impact to medium- and long-term investment strategy
  • Performing competitive analysis, market opportunities research, and risk assessments to inform strategic decision-making
  • Assisting in capital allocation analysis and provide solution-driven recommendations based on business intelligence
  • Supporting the preparation of quarterly press releases and presentations, including data updates, collection and analysis. Assist with scheduling investor / analyst meetings and preparation for conferences, including presentations, investor profiles and speaking notes for panels.
  • Monitoring peer performance and messaging, including investor presentations and conference calls.
  • Assisting with understanding, tracking and communicating changes in our shareholder base.
  • Maintaining a record of all meetings with investors, to evaluate meeting trends, questions, and messaging from investors.

What you will bring to the role:

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Commerce, Finance, Economics, or a related field

Experience:

  • 1 – 3 years’ experience in related roles, including Investment Banking, Corporate Development, Corporate Finance, Equity Research, or Consulting.
  • Strong understanding of financial concepts and energy markets.

Technical Skills:

  • Conduct timely and in-depth research, staying current on energy transition trends, emerging technologies, and evolving policy/regulatory issues.
  • Display proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint, with the ability to create polished, professional, and visually compelling materials.
  • Promote continuous improvement and innovation in the strategy development process.
  • Demonstrate strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to create clear and compelling narratives.
  • Exhibit a proactive and independent work style, while maintaining strong collaboration and engagement.
  • Exercise sound professional judgment and decision-making in high-stakes situations.

Working Conditions:

  • Hybrid Office/Work from home position, with possible very minimal travel to meet business users at Capital Power facilities or other offices.
