General Summary

This position is responsible for operating a terminal to maintain goals and perform repair and maintenance as needed.

Essential Job Accountabilities

  • Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and environmental regulations to maintain safety of employees and environment.
  • Operate an Asphalt Terminal efficiently to maintain production goals.
  • Perform general maintenance, repair, and service terminal as assigned by supervisor to ensure operation efficiency.
  • Operate mobile equipment including forklift, manlift, skid steer, and other equipment to perform daily job duties.
  • Communicate schedule and operational requirements with contractors and drivers to keep the terminal on schedule.
  • Maintain files and records for compliance with product quality and billing.
  • Conduct sampling and inventory measurement of petroleum products to ensure quality standards compliance.
  • Support the shipment and receipt of petroleum products to be in compliance with logistical reporting.
  • Mentor Terminal Operator I, when assigned by manager, to ensure they may safely and effectively perform job duties.
  • Mechanical Repair
  • Metal Fabrication (cutting, welding, layout)

Education

  • High School Diploma, GED or equivalent years of experience

Work Experience

  • 3-8 years of experience operating a terminal preferred

Knowledge, skills, and abilities

  • General Mechanical knowledge of construction material processing plants and heavy equipment preferred.
  • Experience maintaining and trouble shooting heat transfer equipment, pumps, and boilers strongly preferred.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to interface effectively with all levels of management.
  • Team player, who can operate effectively with other team members.
  • General knowledge of Asphalt materials business.
  • General knowledge of Asphalt terminal preferred.
  • General understanding of federal, state and local laws, policies and procedures.
  • Ability to establish relationships with agencies and represent the company in a public forum.

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, sit and use hands to operate a computer keyboard. The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms. Stair climbing, lifting up to 50 pounds unassisted and up to 100 pounds with assistance, and often working outdoors. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, and ability to adjust focus.
